Jessica Angier walked into the resteraunt alone. David was busy tending to the new foal, and she didn't have a date tonight. All the tables were lit with candles because it was late. So she went up to the bar. She wasn't very hungry, but she almost wished she was, so she could get her mind off the fact she was alone. She pictured someone's face, but she kept thinking he must have a girlfriend. Jessie sat on a stool and asked for a water. She didn't drink that much and tonight she knew was a bad night to start. But when she tasted the refreshing water slide down her throat, she began to think more about something mild, but achoholic. Nevertheless, she held off from temptation and began to pray that her crush would come. He already left Roxy's place so he probably would be busy, but she was sure he could take a few hours off.
Jessica, still bored, decided to move to a table. She held off on ordering in hope that anyone would arrive and decide to eat with her. But she still had a tiny hope. She couldn't help but laugh as she thought about how David seemed to like Roxy. She had heard him talking in his sleep saying her name. That caused her to smile and she started to forget about her loneliness. Then she started thinking about the still nameless colt they had just gotten. Soon she started to get tired and thought about leaving. But now she was hungry. David would probably eat at home, and probably already ate, so there was no use going home now. So she opened a menu and started to look through it all.

Luke walked into the resturant and headed straight for the bar. He had just gotten done with everything at the farm and needed a drink. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, then looked up at the bartender. "A cold beer." he said shaking his head a little. He looked around a little and took the beer that was handed over the bar top. He took a nice long slug and smiled. It sure tasted good after a good day's work. He sighed a little and let his eyes wander. Seeing Jess, he smiled and got up nodding to the bartender. He walked slowly and stopped beside her at the table. "Hey, there." he said real friendly. "Haven't seen you around in a while." He sat down across from her with a slight grin and took a nother drink from the bottle.

Jessica continued to look through the menu, not paying attention to the sound of the door opening and someone walking in. They'd been coming in and out all day and knew her being there wouldn't change who did come in. Chicken Alfredo...mmm she thought silently. Taking a few more moments to decide on sides, she sighed with the menu up. But suddenly a familiar voice snapped her back into reality. Luke? Was it her imagination?
Putting the menu down, she noticed the familiar face of Luke. She spotted his smile,so he must be glad to see her. "Hi!" she said smiling back. She watched him sit across from her and gently slid the candle over to the side. A waitress stopped next to the table. "Would you like something to drink?" Jessie nodded and ordered a diet coke. When the waitress left, she replied to Luke's comment. "Yeah we've been busy training Turner, and David brought home three new horses yesterday, including a new colt." she said with another smile.

He nodded polietly listening to the conversation. "Yeah, i've been pretty busy too trying to get the new farm together." He grinned a little again. "It kinda gets lonely so I though i'd come down here and get a beer. I saw you sitting here along though and thought i'd come say hi." Luke leaned back against the chair and lifted the beer to his mouth.

Jessica smiled politely listening to Luke's answer. "Yeah I guess living on a farm alone would be lonely. Just the animals around...but then again, David is really never home or he's working with the horses, so I don't see my brother much." she said. The waitress returned only seconds after Jessica finished and handed the diet coke over. Jessie took it and looked back down at the menu as the waitress spoke again. "Would you like ot order something to eat?" she asked. Jessica glanced at Luke and nodded. "Chicken Alfredo, please." the waitress nodded and scribbled on her paper. "Anything for you, sir?"

Luke tilted his head. "Umm," he said looked from Jess to the waitress. "Just a burger, I guess." he answered feeling a little goofy. Oh well.

Jessie smiled when Luke ordered the burger. When the waitress left she turned back to him. "Hungry?" she asked. She wasn't sure what to do next so she put her hands on the tabel and folded them.

"I guess. I really wasn't but now that I'm sitting here with food around I might as well eat." He chuckled and finished off the beer. Sighing then he looked around. "So you have some nice horses huh?" he asked wondering really what to say to her.

"Yeah." she laughed. "Oh yeah my horses are great. We got a couple of really nice racing mares the other day." she said thinking about her new Thoroughbred mares. "And then the new colt...he looks like he's going to have some good potential."

"Well that's good. Maybe i''ll have to come by and check them out." he said with a smile. "If you don't mind that is." he added tilted his head. He chuckled a little and looked around again. It was a decent crowd in the resturant but not too many people. Gave it a nice feel around the place.

Jessica smiled, her eyes sparkling. "You should," she encouraged. "And, no I don't mind at all." Did she sound pathetic? She wondered about that as she sat across from Luke. Until he showed up, she had just been bored, alone, and ready to get up and walk out of here. But the familiar, friendly smile that always stayed on Luke's face had changed her mind, and she completely at ease sitting her with him. The candles on the tables and the dark restaurant should have made her feel awkward, because this definitely felt like a date, but then she hadn't known Luke very long. Besides, if she was being honest, the idea of dating Luke appealed to her.
The waitress brought their food to the table and Jess smiled. "Mmm." She looked at the plate of chicken and pasta, and picked up a fork. "How are your horses, by the way? You have quite a few different breeds, right?" she asked, trying to remember if he had any specific breed in mind for the future.
